About Me
Hi! My name is Lindsey Castillo, owner of Native Daughter Gardens.
I studied photography and fine art at The School of Visual Arts in NYC. I worked as a curator for The Camera Club of New York, and a UX Researcher & Project Manager for a large eCommerce company.
While I was working full-time I managed a NYC Greenthumb Garden called EL Garden in Brooklyn. I helped the garden secure a $300K Capital Budget Award through the city to install water in the garden, and we successfully lobbied the local council to fund GrowNYC for the 1st time ever. It was my true passion and I put a lot into it.
After I had my daughter in 2023, I decided that I wanted to do something that I truly loved - and that’s being around the growing world! I’m choosing to focus on native plants because they are ecologically beneficial for the environment, they require less water and less work for you!
