About Me

Hi! My name is Lindsey Castillo, owner of Native Daughter Gardens.

I studied art at The School of Visual Arts in NYC. I worked as a curator for The Camera Club of New York, and a UX Researcher & Project Manager for a large eCommerce company.

While working full-time, I managed a NYC Greenthumb Garden called EL Garden in Brooklyn where I helped secure a $300K Capital Improvement Award to install water in the garden. We also successfully lobbied the local council to fund GrowNYC for the 1st time ever. It was my true passion and I put a lot into it.

After I had my daughter in 2023, I decided that I didn’t want to go back to full-time in office work, and I wanted to do something that I truly loved which is being around the growing world. My goal is to utilize my skills as an artist, project manager and researcher for the betterment of our living environment.

I choose native plants as an act of defiance— a living resistance to habitat destruction, a stand for climate stability, and a restoration of biodiversity in a moment when action can no longer wait.
